Let's have a look at what we know:
- Upping destructibility. DICE calls it Levelution, a punny combination that will change the way different maps are played. Even small things like the addition of elevators, security shutters and fire sprinklers in-game will make BF4 feel different, but still retain the core of what makes the series popular.
- 64 Players on the ground. With 64 players on the consoles for the first time, this will finally give PS4 and XBOne players a similar experience to PC players. Maps will be bigger and firefights more intense.
- 60 Frames Per Second. For the first time on console, Battlefield will run at 60 FPS. This will bring it in line with other First Person Shooters (the other FPS) on consoles.
- Commander mode. Mentioned above, we will have 64 players on the ground. This doesn't include the two players in Commander mode, an overviewing player that can give out objective orders, send support or rain down ordinance on the enemy. Best of all, Commander mode can be accessed through an Android or iOS device remotely.
- Late October release. We should see the game on shelves on the 29th of Oct. later this year.
- Vehicle Training mode? Theirs a possibility that we will see a vehicle training mode for BF4, or a tutorial for vehicles added. More here
- Chinese vs. US forces. Most of what we have seen so far is United States forces versus Chinese soldiers. We also got a look at some of the Chinese vehicles in the single player demo.
- Classes stay the same, but change. While the classes themselves seem to stay the same, it looks like the load-outs and weapon options for some classes will be changing. In the 'Siege of Shanghai' multiplayer footage, we see a sniper dropping C4 on an enemy tank here. Also, in a recent interview, Aleksander Grondal speaks about changing the load-outs, using the engineer class as an example. According to the developer,
"Engineers, in Battlefield 3, they had a problem [sic] at doing things on range, they had PDW (personal defence weapons), quite short in their combat range, we are going to add some more tools to them, to engage in range".
- Addition weapon customisation and addons. So far, we have seen twin sights, red and green dot sights and other attachment options for primary and secondary weapons. Also worth noting at the moment, the assault class is reported to have two types of med-packs.
- Spectator mode. For the first time, console player will have the ability to "spectate" a match. Great for filming clan matches and commentaries.
I will be adding more information to this list as I find it/remember it, but let me know if there is something that I have missed or miss read.
