Q5 Fantan confirmed for Battlefield 4

Q5 Fantan and Bombing in Battlefield 4

In a recent interview with Xbox, DICE announced a new addition to the upcoming Battlefield title, due out on October 29th. The announcement can be viewed through the Gamescom highlights on Xbox Live.

The Chinese ground attack aircraft, the Q5 Fantan was confirmed by DICE creative director Lars Gustavsson, who went on to mention the use of bombs.

Originally deployed in 1970 the Q5 was based on the MiG-19. Most of the weapons systems have only had minor upgrades and therefore would not hold up against modern aircraft. Still a capable ground attack vehicle, the Q5 would have a hard time standing up against other modern fighters.

The Q5 was last use in the Battlefield series in Battlefield 2: Armoured Fury, but this is the first mention of an aircraft with bombing capabilities that I have heard of for Battlefield 4. I'm sure there will be more to come.
