First Light

First Light

My initial thoughts of Metro: Last Light

I started playing Metro: Last Light the day it was released in the UK. I even drove that night after work so that I would have it on day 1 and jump into Ranger Mode, the DLC/Limited Edition/Hardcore mode that comes with the first run version of the game.

So there we go.

Chucked it in my Playstation

Let it load the necessary bits and pieces

Waited.

After navigating the start screen and finding how to setup a new game using Ranger Mode. From what I had gathered in my research that day, Ranger Mode removed the Heads up Display (HUD) and made ammo and health sparse. This didn't sound so hard.

This didn't sound so hard

Turns out Developer Deep Silver weren't going to tell me anything. I spent the next two hours completely unsure of what I needed to do or which buttons to press, but eventually got the first main obstacle in the game. I sneeked on three enemy's in a dark room and died.

Ranger Mode is pretty unforgiving. I fumbled my way through those few hours only to meet my end at the entry level enemy types. I decided I would go back to the start and try again, in a more forgiving difficulty.
